Living Languages

There are 126 living languages taught as a first language in Tanzania. Although much of the population speaks at least some English, the majority learn Swahili as a second language. Formal English is taught to students in secondary school starting at approximately age 10, and many families lack the resources to pay for the school fees, books, uniforms, and transportation that allows their children to continue their education after primary school.

We need your support!

We’ve been traveling around Tanzania buying high quality handmade beaded sandals, jewelry, handbags, and colorful printed fabrics unique to the country. The profit from selling these items in the US will help needy schools in Tanzania pay for desks, buildings, books, and other supplies. Also, we will sponsor orphaned children and help pay for their school fees and expenses. Please help support this endeavor by donating and shopping at our online store coming soon!

Batik Designs for the Beach!

A batik is a large cut of fabric that is popular in eastern Africa. For all those beach lovers out there, this is a great all-in-one wrap skirt, beach blanket, and towel. Here are a few of the batik designs that will be available soon.

Paintings from Dar es Salaam

Check out these knife paintings that we bought from an artist in Dar es Salaam! They depict the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the Maasai population of northern Tanzania and southern Kenya. The Maasai are best known for their connection with nature and ability to live peacefully among wild animals, such as the lions in the Ngorongoro Conservation area. These and similar paintings will be available for purchase in soon!
